Transfer my mailing list over the internet?
| |
| The Internet is a convenient and dependable method of
file transfer. The rapid transfer allows AD-Vantage to quickly check
the file for completeness and proper format. There are, however, a few
important steps to observe if an Internet file transfer is to be successful:
|
| 1. |
First, extract the address
file from your database manager as a text file (also called
an ASCII file). Save the extracted file to your desktop, or
in a temporary folder. A text file is desirable because almost
any other computer can read it. Do not format your mailing list
into labels; we will handle that. If you need help converting
your mailing list to a text file, call us and we'll fax you
a "help" sheet. You can also visit our website and read "How
Do I Extract My Mailing List As A Text File?" |
| 2. |
Once the file is extracted
to a temporary folder, you'll need to compress the data. Use
a compression utility program such as Winzip or PKZip (Stuffit
for Mac). By compressing the data, the file will transfer more
quickly with less chance of loosing data fragments. If you don't
have a compression utility, you can go to
www.winzip.com and download an evaluation copy or buy the
full program. |
| 3. |
Finally, compose an
e-mail to AD-Vantage Marketing and attach the compressed file.
Be sure to tell us who you are and provide your phone number.
Indicate the quantity of addresses we should expect to receive
and any special processing requests. Send the e-mail to: advmkt@sonic.net. |
